RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Manufacturing Sciences Corporation (MSC) partners with customers to support Research and Development (R&D) projects involving advanced materials, complex manufacturing processes, and nuclear-related technologies. With decades of specialized experience working with uranium and other strategic materials, MSC offers the technical expertise, facilities, and flexibility needed to accelerate innovation and solve complex engineering challenges.

MSC contributes to customer R&D efforts through:

  • Material Development and Testing: MSC helps customers develop and evaluate new uranium alloys, test alternative processing methods, and characterize material properties using in-house analytical capabilities, including our ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory.

  • Prototype Fabrication: MSC can rapidly produce cast and machined prototypes using vacuum induction melting, CNC machining, and near-net shape casting techniques—enabling customers to evaluate performance early in the development cycle.

  • Process Optimization: MSC collaborates with R&D teams to refine manufacturing processes, reduce waste, improve product quality, and scale up for production readiness.

  • Collaborative Engineering Support: MSC’s team of engineers and metallurgists work directly with customer researchers to explore design feasibility, improve manufacturability, and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Special Projects for the Nuclear Industry: MSC has a long history of supporting nuclear fuel companies, government agencies, and national labs with non-classified R&D projects involving depleted and natural uranium.

By offering a unique combination of technical knowledge, hands-on manufacturing capabilities, and specialized material expertise, MSC helps customers bring ideas to life—safely, efficiently, and with a strong focus on quality. Whether developing new materials, refining components, or exploring new applications, MSC is a trusted partner for R&D success.

MSC also makes its radiologically licensed facilities available for lease to other firms for research and development projects.  Please contact us for our current availability.
